Suzy joined Schmidt Westergard in 2005 right out of college and loves the profession. Although very smart and efficient, what Suzy enjoys most is the close working relationships with her clients as she clearly understands their needs and helps them meet their future goals. A native of North Dakota, Suzy earned her B.S. in Accounting from University of Mary in Bismarck, ND.
Suzy is active in her church and community service activities with her daughter's school. Family time is spent with her husband, daughter and her snowbird parents playing games, watching movies, or attending Renaissance Faires. To relax, Suzy spends time reading or working on a variety of craft projects.
After learning the accounting ropes at a local CPA firm for five years, Curtis joined Schmidt Westergard in 1999. He has helped build a cohesive and productive group that he really enjoys working with.
As a Senior Manager in the Tax and Accounting Services group, he works with both individual and business clients. Curtis is a CPA who takes pride in his work because he knows he is performing a meaningful service that has real value for his clients.
His community service activities include contributing time to neighborhood and church causes as well as political activities. Curtis looks forward to free time spent camping with his wife, children and the family dog. When not at the office, you might also find him woodworking.
Hired by PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP out of college, Rhonda spent two years there before joining Schmidt Westergard in October 1999. She believes that the firm is exceptional because everyone has a desire to do the very best work they can possibly do. Rhonda is a CPA and finds audits of not-for-profit entities very rewarding. She was raised in Taylor, AZ and graduated from ASU.
Her family consists of her husband, two young children, and a diverse group of animals: Two (crazy) cats, a (very sweet) Border collie, four (creepy crawly) millipedes, and a random assortment of fish. Time spent with the family includes AYSO soccer matches, baking and cooking fun treats and going on outings to the zoo, library and museum.
Earning her stripes as an auditor in Minneapolis, MN, Stacia traded in her snow boots for the Arizona sun, joining Schmidt Westergard in 2002. She spent almost four years in Audit Services before becoming Controller for the firm. Stacia is a CPA who loves her job, because she is a natural-born problem solver who enjoys the variety involved with her job as Controller.
At home, Stacia loves being Mom to her elementary-age son and enjoys the full gamut from homework to sports, camping to cooking, pets to performances. She has enjoyed coaching soccer teams and volunterring in his Sunday School class. Wherever she is, Stacia looks forward to learning and experiencing something new every day.
After graduating from university in 1999, Dan joined Schmidt Westergard. As a Director in Audit Services, he is particularly experienced in inventory, mergers and acquisitions, and business valuations. Dan is exceptionally accomplished in the employee benefit plan arena for a wide range of industries.
Dan gives back by serving the community as Phoenix Chapter President of the Western Pension & Benefits Council. His family is at the center of his life, with his wife and seven children. Together, they love to camp on the beach and Dan squeezes in a round of golf when he can.
After graduating with a Master of Professional Accountancy from Montana State University in 2008, Amy began her career in Northern Nevada doing both tax and audit work. This dual background gives her a great foundation in servicing a wide range of clients. After four years, she discovered that her true passion lies with tax services, particularly with closely-held partnerships and S Corporations and their owners. She moved to Arizona with her husband, daughter and son in 2014 to be closer to family and joined the Schmidt Westergard team in 2015.
Amy spends her free time reading, watching movies/football games, attending Comic Con, and working towards earning her black belt in Taekwondo alongside her family.
The first 20+ years of Jackie’s career were spent in Human Resources in the assisted living and hospitality industries, before joining Schmidt Westergard in 2009. Jackie works to create leadership skills by providing individual team members with the tools and support they need. She is well known in the firm for her ability to craft unique teambuilding activities that are both productive and a lot of fun. She is also the recruiting gateway for new talent at Schmidt Westergard.
Jackie gives back to the community by contributing time to Dress for Success clothing drives. Her teenage son keeps her on her toes at home, and she keeps fit by running and biking.
After graduating with her Masters of Accountancy with an Emphasis in Tax from Brigham Young University, Megan Klingler worked with Wealth and Tax Advisory Services and Deloitte Tax, LLP for several years before joining Schmidt Westergard’s team as a Tax Manager. The thing she likes most about her job is being able to provide clients with peace of mind so that they don’t need to worry about their taxes. She also enjoys strategizing business growth with large corporation tax provisions in the utility and hospitality industries, helping clients understand the tax implications of those changes, and then seeing the changes unfold.
Outside of work, Megan enjoys singing in her church choir, volunteering, and attending her nieces’ and nephews’ sporting events and music recitals. She teaches piano and voice lessons, and enjoys traveling and attending live theatre.
After graduating with a Master of Taxation degree from Weber State University, Michael spent the first few years of his professional career with CBIZ MHM and started working for Schmidt Westergard in 2013. As a CPA specializing in Tax services, he is experienced in real estate, professional services, manufacturing, mining and not-for profits.
Michael and his wife Anna have been blessed with seven children, six girls and one boy. As a family, they enjoy spending time together outdoors, either hunting for seashells at the beach, hiking in the mountains, swimming in a pool, or playing at a local park.
Michael's community service activities include contributing time to his church and volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America.
Greg joined Schmidt Westergard in 1996 from Deloitte & Touche. Known for his technical accounting research expertise, he conducts audits and reviews for manufacturing, construction and service companies and specializes in audits of employee benefit plans.
He is involved with Boy Scouts of America and American Youth Soccer Organization. Greg is a sports buff who works hard and plays hard. He loves outdoor activities such as camping and fishing.
Arlene brought in-depth accounting experience from two publically traded companies, when she became part of Schmidt Westergard in 2009. As a result, she has a unique understanding of the processes and procedures of her clients which, in turn, helps her identify ways to improve their internal controls. She is a CPA and specializes in working with non-profit organizations. She earned a B.S. in Accountancy from NAU as well as a Master of Accounting and Professional Consulting from Villanova University.
Arlene is a native of northern Arizona and spends the majority of her free time working to earn the title of Favorite Aunt to her 20 nieces and nephews. That includes spending time traveling, reading and relaxing on vacation.
Problem solving is in Kelly’s DNA, and working on complex estates or estate plans puts a smile on her face. She genuinely enjoys interacting with families and helping them plan their futures.
As a Director with Schmidt Westergard, she focuses on tax consulting and compliance related to tax-exempt organizations, fiduciary taxation, and high-net-worth individuals and their related entities, including estate and gift tax planning and compliance. Kelly holds a JD and LLM in Taxation and is an attorney licensed with the State Bar in AZ and CA. She is a board member of the East Valley Estate Planning Council and currently serves as Secretary.
Married, with two small children, Kelly does not have much time to call her own. When she can steal a few moments, her activities of choice include riding motorcycles in the sand dunes, boating on Lake Mead, visiting her friends in CA and going to Disneyland.
