He has in-depth expertise in a range of industries, including Real Estate, Professional Services, Wholesale Distribution, Technology, Manufacturing, and Construction. Jim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants.
He is a CPA who holds various insurance and securities licenses (Series 7, 63, 66). He is past president and member of Mesa Baseline Rotary Club, and past president and board member of Banner Health/Lutheran Healthcare Network.
Jim has a Master of Accounting (Taxation), with High Distinction, from Brigham Young University, Provo, UT. He graduated first in his class and later received the Elijah Watt Sells Award for obtaining one of the highest scores on the CPA examination.
Jim joined Schmidt Westergard & Company in 1983 from Price Waterhouse. He was promoted to partner in 1985, and became managing partner in 2004.
Outside the office, Jims world revolves around family and community service. He enjoys basketball, volleyball, golf, snorkeling and every sport, activity and performance any of his 8 children are involved in. Jim and his college sweetheart Rosalyn love to travel (all 50 states, some 40 countries and counting) because of their affinity for people and cultures.
He is also actively involved with his
church and the Boy Scouts of America.
